Tower Zero
Huntington Beach Pier
At the center of Huntington “City” Beach on top of the Huntington Beach Pier is Tower Zero. All the HB City and California State Beach lifeguard towers have numbers. The numbers for Huntington State Beach lifeguard towers start with Tower 2 at the Newport Beach Jetty. Huntington Beach City lifeguard towers have numbers based on wether they are north or south of Tower Zero. Odd numbers are south and even numbers are north. The first tower north of Tower Zero is Tower 2, the next tower is 4, then 6, 8, 10, 12 and so on (the first tower south is Tower 1, then 3, 5, 7 and so on).

Pacific Marine Mammal Center

If there’s a sick or injured seal on the beach… who ya gonna call? The Huntington State Beach Lifeguards call the Pacific Marine Mammal Center!
The Pacific Marine Mammal Center rescues, rehabilitates and releases marine mammals and inspires ocean stewardship through research, education and collaboration. The Pacific Marine Mammal Center is a non-profit organization and is open daily from 10am to 4pm for tours. You can tour the center right now with a virtual tour, just click on the image below.

International Surfing Museum
Huntington Beach
You don’t have to be a surfer to appreciate SURF CITY Huntington Beach! In fact, you could start a surfing museum and not even know how to surf. That’s exactly what Natalie Kotsch did several decades ago when she moved to Huntington Beach. Natalie came from a place in Canada where there wasn’t any surf. She loved the whole surfing vibe thing here in SoCal so she opened The International Surfing Museum!
You can check out the museum Tuesdays through Sundays noon to 5pm for a small admission price of $3. For instant gratification, check out what the museum looked like way back in 2013 with the virtual tour below. I’d recommend seeing it for real, in person, the experience is awesome man! It’s like totally getting pitted!
